A high-level diplomatic delegation representing 15 countries visited the National Emergencies Operations Centre (NEOC) in Islamabad on Thursday to review Pakistan’s evolving disaster management capabilities and emergency response systems.
The visit highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to strengthen regional cooperation and enhance disaster preparedness through technology-driven solutions. Moreover, the session showcased the country’s progress in developing proactive mechanisms to reduce disaster risk.
Delegation Included Representatives From 15 Countries
The visiting delegation included diplomats from Tajikistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Oman, Spain, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jordan, Indonesia, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Thailand, Canada, and Uzbekistan.
At the same time, more than 34 Pakistani ambassadors and heads of mission serving in different countries joined the session virtually through Zoom.
The combined participation provided an opportunity to highlight Pakistan’s disaster management framework before both international representatives and its diplomatic missions abroad.
NDMA Highlights Advanced Disaster Response Capabilities
Officials from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) delivered a detailed presentation on the capabilities of the National Emergencies Operations Centre.
The briefing focused on Pakistan’s transition toward proactive disaster risk management. Officials explained how advanced planning and technology are helping reduce the impact of recurring natural disasters.
Furthermore, NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik outlined several initiatives designed to strengthen regional cooperation in disaster preparedness and emergency response.
The delegation also received an overview of the standards achieved by Pakistan’s disaster management system in recent years.
Officials explained future plans to integrate next-generation technologies aimed at improving early warning systems and strengthening coordination among emergency responders and resource providers.
‘Disaster Lens 2026’ Demonstrated
During the session, NDMA presented “Disaster Lens 2026” for both Pakistan and the international community.
Delegates also observed comprehensive international disaster simulation exercises designed to demonstrate emergency preparedness and coordinated response mechanisms.
The simulations illustrated how technology, planning, and coordinated operations can improve disaster response while supporting timely decision-making during emergencies.
