The toll from rain-related incidents in Pakistan has risen to over 30 casualties due to heavy downpours, leading to the closure of schools, as officials reported on Sunday.
Widespread heavy rain, persisting since Thursday, has brought severe disruptions in various areas of Pakistan, prompting the closure of all schools in Balochistan until Thursday.
In the northwestern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa region, 26 individuals, including 18 children, lost their lives due to buildings collapsing amid the incessant rainfall.
Taimur Ali Khan, the spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority in K-P, stated, “As a result of continuous rainfall over the past four days in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, a total of 27 individuals have lost their lives.” Additionally, one person lost his life in a landslide, and over 150 houses were damaged in the region.
In Balochistan, five people lost their lives as buildings collapsed on Thursday and Friday, according to Jahanzain Khan, the head of the disaster management agency.

The inclement weather has caused damage to roads, triggered floods, and induced landslides, resulting in the isolation of villages from main towns in Balochistan. Major roads were also blocked in Gilgit-Baltistan, as reported by local media.
The Meteorological Department anticipates further rainfall and snowfall across the region on Monday, indicating ongoing challenges in managing the aftermath of the adverse weather conditions.
