Sukkur District Govt reviews stakeholder engagement with SHCC Anti Quackery Unit

KARACHI: To ban unlawful quackery practices, Commissioner Sukkur Mr. Ghulam Mustafa Phul met with the Deputy Director SHCC Anti Quackery Unit Dr. Mujahid Hussain at Commissioner House, Sukkur on April 14th, 2023, and discussed the overall progress on Anti-Quackery joint operations with SHCC.

Commissioner applauded the performance of the SHCC-Directorate of Anti-Quackery and expressed keen positive interest in the operational activities of the Sukkur team, welcoming the opportunity to work hand in hand to ensure actions against ‘quacks’ through joint operations.

Illegal quackery clinics are being sealed in different cities in Sindh.

SHCC Anti Quackery gave a brief overview of the joint operations being successfully conducted in Khairpur District with the support of the DC Office Khairpur. Commissioner was pleased to know about the Anti-Quackery (AQ) initiative launched across the province by Director Anti-Quackery S. Zeeshan A. Shah and hoped the same will be done in other parts of the Sukkur Division as well.

The briefing covered results achieved in the second quarter (Q2) of the fiscal year, where the Sukkur Anti Quackery unit conducted 320 inspection visits to different healthcare establishments ( HCEs) to ensure regulatory compliance.

Over 78 clinics were sealed under section U/S 39 (G&H) of SHCC Regulations as per law. Moreover, 152 warning notices were issued to non-compliant healthcare practitioners (HCPs). In addition, 40 clinics were found to be in compliance.

It was agreed that follow-up visits must be conducted on warnings issued in Q2, to bring more people under the compliance net and that ‘quack-infested areas’ as a combined effort by both parties.  

The Commissioner reinforced that the writ of the law must be sustained through quality healthcare and further committed to providing complete district government support to SHCC Anti Quackery Unit for future success in the fight against ‘quackery.
