D.I. KHAN: A private girls’ school in Shiwah Tehsil of North Waziristan was blown up with explosives, as reported by the police on Thursday.
The school’s security guard mentioned that unidentified individuals detonated bombs last night, causing extensive damage to two rooms. He also reported being severely beaten by the attackers before they fled.
This school was the sole private girls’ school in the area, according to reports. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
Following the incident, police have initiated investigations and collected evidence from the school premises.
In a related incident, exam papers were burnt by unknown attackers in another school in North Waziristan. Last December, unidentified individuals set fire to school furniture worth millions of rupees at a girls’ school in Bannu district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
According to police, armed individuals entered Government Higher Secondary School Mambati in Miryan Tehsil of Bannu, burning furniture, stealing solar panels, and a pressure pump, and leaving threatening messages on the school’s main gate, claiming allegiance to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
They warned the school’s owner to shut it down or face further destruction.
These threats caused panic among the students and parents, as the school serves 350 girls and is the largest educational institution in the area.
