Pakistani actor and producer Hareem Farooq has challenged conventional beauty standards after sharing images highlighting her stretch marks and natural body changes.
In an Instagram post, Farooq said physical features such as acne, marks, hair loss, weight gain, weight loss and different body shapes should not define a person’s beauty or worth.
Character Over Appearance
Farooq highlighted different skin tones and hair types, including fair, tan and golden skin, as well as straight, curly, thin and voluminous hair.
She said qualities such as empathy, honesty, courage, kindness, intelligence and perseverance matter more than physical appearance.
The actor also stressed the importance of how people treat others, face difficult situations and support those around them.
Bodies Naturally Change
Farooq said bodies naturally change because of pregnancy, hormonal changes, illness, stress, trauma and grief.
She argued that social pressure can make these changes harder, particularly for women who are often expected to maintain specific body shapes and appearances.
She urged people to accept and respect their bodies while continuing to work towards better health.
Farooq also said a person’s body should not become a subject for public debate or unwanted commentary.
‘Be Unapologetically Yourself’
The actor called for greater respect and compassion instead of judgment and conformity.
She said people should be free to dress, age, change and heal without being measured against other people’s standards.
Farooq also encouraged people to challenge assumptions about appearance and celebrate individuality.
She concluded her message by reminding people that their bodies and lives belong to them and encouraged everyone to be “unapologetically” themselves.
