ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to strengthen security in Islamabad ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march.
Accordingly, authorities are finalising the deployment of Rangers personnel in the federal capital to support security arrangements.
The Interior Ministry has prepared a summary seeking the deployment of additional security forces, according to security sources.
Islamabad Police Seek 3,000 Rangers Personnel
Meanwhile, Islamabad Police have requested the services of 3,000 Rangers personnel for security duties across the capital.
The Islamabad Chief Commissioner’s Office has also submitted a formal request for Rangers deployment from September 20 to October 5, 2026.
Sources said authorities sought the additional personnel to ensure comprehensive security during the period.
The deployment plan comes ahead of PTI’s announced long march towards Islamabad.
Furthermore, security agencies are reviewing arrangements to maintain law and order and protect important government installations.
Officials are expected to finalise the deployment after completing consultations between the Interior Ministry, Islamabad administration and security agencies.
The move reflects preparations for possible gatherings and increased political activity in the federal capital.
However, the final number of Rangers personnel and deployment arrangements will depend on approval of the Interior Ministry’s summary.
Authorities have yet to announce further details about the deployment plan or specific areas where Rangers personnel will perform their duties.
The security arrangements are expected to remain in place through October 5, covering the period requested by the Islamabad administration.
The government has not yet issued a detailed public statement regarding the planned Rangers deployment.
