LAHORE: Authorities have relocated 265 female students from a government girls’ higher secondary school in Lahore after declaring its building unsafe, raising concerns among parents about disruptions to their children’s education.
Students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Mozang have been transferred to Government Community Boys High School in the same locality.
The relocated students will attend classes during the evening shift, while the boys’ school will continue operating its regular morning classes. The institution currently accommodates 401 male students during the morning shift.
The decision has sparked concern among parents, who believe the sudden relocation during the ongoing academic session could affect their daughters’ studies and academic progress.
Several parents have questioned the arrangements, arguing that the change in school premises and class timings could create difficulties for students who are accustomed to their previous routine.
Reports indicate that some girls have refused to attend evening classes following the relocation. This has raised fears of declining enrolment if students continue to stay away from school.
The relocation has also highlighted concerns about the condition of government school buildings and the need for timely maintenance to ensure students can study in safe environments.
Parents are seeking appropriate arrangements that would allow their daughters to continue their education without unnecessary disruption.
Authorities have moved the students to alternative premises to address immediate safety concerns. However, questions remain about how long the temporary arrangement will continue and when the original school building might become safe for use again.
The situation underscores the importance of providing secure educational facilities and minimising disruptions, particularly during an ongoing academic year.
