The federal government has announced a fresh increase in petroleum prices, raising the rates of both petrol and high-speed diesel. The revised prices will take effect from 12:00 midnight under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.
The latest adjustment comes at a time when consumers continue to face rising living costs. Although the increase is relatively small, it is expected to affect transportation expenses and place additional pressure on household budgets.
New Petrol and Diesel Prices Announced
According to an official notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of petrol has been increased by Rs1.63 per litre.
Following the revision, petrol will now cost Rs335.81 per litre.
Meanwhile, the government has also increased the price of high-speed diesel by Rs1.55 per litre.
As a result, the new price of high-speed diesel has been fixed at Rs388.38 per litre.
The revised rates will officially come into effect after 12:00 midnight.
Revised Fuel Prices
The latest prices announced by the government are:
- Petrol: Increased by Rs1.63 per litre to Rs335.81 per litre
- High-Speed Diesel: Increased by Rs1.55 per litre to Rs388.38 per litre
These prices will remain applicable until the next official review under the government’s petroleum pricing policy.
What the Increase Means for Consumers
Even though the latest increase is modest, it is likely to influence transportation costs across the country.
Higher fuel prices generally increase operating expenses for public transport and commercial vehicles. Consequently, businesses may also experience higher logistics costs.
As transportation expenses rise, the additional costs can gradually affect the prices of goods and services in different sectors.
Therefore, consumers could face renewed inflationary pressure in the coming weeks if transportation charges increase.
Fuel Prices Revised Under Government Pricing Mechanism
The government reviews petroleum prices periodically under its fuel pricing mechanism. The latest revision follows that established process and becomes effective immediately after midnight.
Petrol and diesel remain essential fuels for private vehicles, commercial transport, agriculture and industrial activities. Therefore, even minor price adjustments often have wider economic implications.
The latest increase is expected to be closely monitored by consumers, transport operators and businesses as they assess its impact on daily expenses and operating costs.
With the revised notification now in force, motorists across Pakistan will pay the new petrol and diesel prices from 12:00 midnight onward.
