Lahore police arrested a groom from his wedding ceremony over allegations that he took money from students by promising them jobs. The arrest took place in the Nishtar Colony area after a female student complained to senior police officials.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Faisal Kamran ordered a confidential inquiry after receiving the complaint. Police later identified the suspect as Farhan and arrested him following the investigation.
Student Reports Fake Job Offer
According to police, Farhan allegedly collected money from a female participant in the Police Volunteer Programme after promising her employment. The student approached DIG Faisal Kamran and reported the alleged fraud.
Following her complaint, the DIG launched an inquiry to investigate the matter. Police said the investigation supported the allegations against the suspect. Officers from Nishtar Colony Police Station subsequently arrested Farhan.
The case highlights concerns about people allegedly exploiting students who seek employment opportunities through official programmes.
Police Warn Students Against Paying for Jobs
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran clarified that the Police Volunteer Programme offers students a chance to volunteer with the police. It does not provide paid employment through unofficial agents.
Therefore, he urged students not to pay anyone who promises them a police job or demands money for programme registration. He also advised people to contact the police immediately if someone offers employment in exchange for payment.
Students Urged to Verify Employment Offers
The incident serves as a warning to students who receive job offers through unofficial channels. Before paying any registration fee or sharing personal information, applicants should verify opportunities directly with the relevant department.
Meanwhile, students who suspect fraud should report it to the police and provide any available evidence, including payment records and messages. Police have arrested the suspect, while the allegations remain subject to the legal process.
