A Pakistani technology startup has brought international recognition to the country’s innovation sector after winning a major award in California. RLabs, led by NUST graduate Harris Ahmed, secured the GOAL Startup Award at the Silicon Valley November Summit.
The summit took place from November 2 to 5 and brought together entrepreneurs, investors, technology companies, and innovation leaders. The achievement has also drawn appreciation from the government, which described it as evidence of Pakistan’s growing startup potential.
RLabs was incubated at the National Incubation Centre for Aerospace Technologies (NICAT). It competed against international startups before receiving the award for its work in emerging technologies.
RLabs Wins GOAL Startup Award at Silicon Valley Summit
RLabs received the GOAL Startup Award during the event organised by Plug and Play. The organisation operates as an innovation platform and venture capital firm.
The Pakistani startup was among 18 international ventures selected to pitch their ideas through Plug and Play’s Global Overseas Acceleration & Learning (GOAL) programme.
Sharing his achievement, RLabs leader Harris Ahmed highlighted the company’s work in extended reality (XR), synthetic data, and machine training.
“Had the opportunity to present our work on XR (extended reality) simulators, synthetic data and machine training on a platform that brought together more than 3,000 attendees, including founders, venture capitalists, corporate executives, innovation leaders, and government partners,” Ahmed wrote on LinkedIn.
The summit attracted more than 3,000 participants and featured presentations from over 300 startups. Furthermore, its programme covered more than 20 industry sectors, with artificial intelligence (AI) and deep technology receiving particular attention.
How NUST Graduate Harris Ahmed Is Developing RLabs
Harris Ahmed graduated from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in 2018, according to his professional profile.
He has spent years working on extended reality technologies and training people to operate complex machinery through immersive simulations.
Reflecting on his professional journey, Ahmed explained how the company is applying that experience to machine training.
“spent the last decade teaching humans how to operate complex machines in XR”.
“Now we use the same human experience to train machine instincts. (Launching in the US soon),” he added.
The company’s approach connects human training experience with technologies designed to develop machine capabilities. Moreover, its work in synthetic data and XR simulators reflects its focus on emerging industrial applications.
RLabs Uses AI to Reduce Simulation Development Time
According to NICAT, RLabs has been developing a proprietary Large Language Model (LLM) to support its simulation technology.
The model will “power a modular, cross-platform simulation engine that cuts development time by 75 per cent”.
This technology aims to streamline simulation development across different platforms. Consequently, it could help reduce the time required to build complex training environments.
The company’s focus on XR simulators, synthetic data, and machine training also places it within the expanding deep-tech sector.
RLabs is preparing to launch in the United States, as Ahmed indicated in his announcement.
Government Celebrates RLabs’ International Achievement
Information Technology Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja welcomed the startup’s achievement and described it as a proud moment for Pakistan.
In a statement shared through the government’s official account, she highlighted the contribution of Pakistani entrepreneurs to international technology innovation.
“From Pakistan to Silicon Valley — a proud moment for our nation!”
The minister also described the award as a “moment of immense pride” for her ministry and technology innovation arm Ignite.
She said the recognition demonstrated the “extraordinary potential of Pakistani talent and the growing strength of our startup ecosystem”.
“Seeing our homegrown startups earn international recognition reinforces our commitment to nurturing innovation, creating global opportunities, and empowering the next generation of Pakistani entrepreneurs,” the minister said.
She also reiterated the government’s ambition for Pakistani technology companies.
“Pakistani startups should not just compete globally, but help shape the future of technology.”
“Congratulations to Harris Ahmed and the entire RLabs team for making Pakistan proud. May this be one of many more success stories that take our green flag to new heights!” the statement added.
Pakistan Expands Its Technology and Startup Infrastructure
RLabs’ international recognition comes as Pakistan continues developing facilities to support entrepreneurs and technology businesses.
On October 10, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the newly renamed Daanish IT Park, also known as the National Technology Park.
During the inauguration, he described the facility as an important milestone for Pakistan’s economic development and future prosperity.
The technology park brings incubation centres, innovation hubs, small and medium enterprises, startups, and industry leaders together under one roof.
Meanwhile, the World Bank is expected to support another initiative aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s emerging startup ecosystem.
Under the proposed Pakistan Entrepreneurship and Private Investment Catalyst Project, the government plans to establish and capitalise a $50 million Fund of Funds (FoF).
The World Bank project is expected to go before its executive board for approval in early 2027. The proposed fund aims to encourage venture capital investment and support Pakistan’s developing innovation sector.
Pakistani Entrepreneurs Also Gain Recognition Internationally
RLabs is not the only Pakistani-linked technology venture to receive international attention this year.
Earlier in 2026, the co-founders of Singapore-based Plouton AI secured a place on the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list. They appeared in the finance and venture capital category.
Muhammad Furqan Karim Kidwai and Sarfraz Shahid Hussain co-founded the venture, which develops an agentic automation platform.
The platform helps midmarket companies automate their finance workflows.
These developments highlight the growing international presence of Pakistani entrepreneurs and technology professionals. Meanwhile, RLabs’ Silicon Valley award brings further attention to homegrown innovation and its potential global applications.
