Apple’s first foldable iPhone could eventually become more than a single flagship device. The company may develop an entire foldable lineup under the iPhone Duo name.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple could explore several additional models in the future. These may include the iPhone Duo Max, iPhone Duo mini and iPhone Duo SE.
Apple has not confirmed any of these models. However, the possible lineup suggests the company could view foldable phones as a long-term product category.
Why Apple Chose the iPhone Duo Name
Apple’s first foldable iPhone carried several rumored names before the company reportedly settled on iPhone Duo.
The iPhone Ultra was once considered a possible name for the device. However, Duo may offer Apple more flexibility for future models.
Names such as Duo Max, Duo mini and Duo SE would fit easily within Apple’s existing naming structure.
By comparison, names such as “iPhone Ultra mini” or “iPhone Ultra Max” would sound less natural.
The name Duo could also describe the phone’s two-screen design. This gives the branding a direct connection with the device’s foldable form.
Apple may also prefer Duo because of its short and simple structure. The three-letter name follows the company’s use of labels such as Air and Pro.
More Foldable iPhones Could Follow
If Gurman’s prediction proves accurate, Apple could build several foldable models around the standard Duo.
The Duo Max could target customers who want a larger foldable display. Meanwhile, the Duo mini could appeal to buyers who prefer a smaller device.
Apple could also use the Duo SE to reach customers who want a foldable iPhone at a lower price.
Such a strategy would give Apple more options across different price points and sizes. It would also mirror the company’s existing approach with its regular iPhone lineup.
Still, Apple has not officially confirmed these products. Therefore, all three models remain speculative at this stage.
Gurman Predicts Strong Demand for iPhone Duo
Gurman also expects Apple’s first foldable iPhone to create major interest.
He predicts that the iPhone Duo could become the dominant foldable phone by early next year. Strong demand could even create supply shortages and push resale prices higher.
Apple’s entry could also influence the wider smartphone industry. Other manufacturers may increase their investment in foldable technology as competition grows.
The move could help make foldable phones more mainstream among everyday smartphone buyers.
For now, the iPhone Duo remains the key focus. However, Apple’s reported plans for multiple versions suggest the company may see foldables as a major future category.
