The MDCAT 2026 examination for admission to medical and dental colleges will take place on September 20 (Sunday) across Pakistan.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has reviewed final arrangements for the nationwide entrance examination. Authorities have also issued instructions to maintain strict security and transparency throughout the process.
Over 138,000 Candidates Registered
According to the PMDC, 138,158 candidates have registered to appear in MDCAT 2026.
The examination will be conducted across 34 cities and towns in Pakistan. An additional examination centre has also been established in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, allowing Pakistani students abroad to participate.
Provincial authorities and designated universities will oversee the actual conduct of the examination.
Question Papers to Remain With Universities
The PMDC has decided that universities will retain the MDCAT question papers after the examination.
According to the council, the measure aims to strengthen transparency and ensure proper handling of examination material.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by the President of PMDC, where officials reviewed the final arrangements for the test.
Meanwhile, directives have been issued to relevant institutions to maintain high standards of examination security.
PMDC Sets MDCAT Standards
The PMDC is responsible for developing and approving the overall MDCAT examination framework, procedures and standards.
However, provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad conduct the examination according to the established policies and standards.
This arrangement allows the relevant authorities to manage examination centres while following the national framework approved by PMDC.
Procedure Available for Question Objections
Candidates will also have an established mechanism for raising objections regarding MDCAT questions.
Any concerns about questions can be submitted through the prescribed review and grievance procedure.
The council has stated that it aims to conduct MDCAT 2026 in a secure, transparent, uniform and fair manner.
With more than 138,000 candidates registered, final preparations are now underway for the medical and dental college entrance examination.
