The Punjab government has expanded the restoration and development plan for historic Kamran’s Baradari. Authorities have increased the project area from five acres to 15 acres. The expanded plan aims to preserve the historic site while transforming its surroundings into a modern recreational destination.
Officials have proposed several facilities to improve the visitor experience. These include landscaped gardens, decorative lighting and dedicated parking areas. At the same time, authorities have stressed the importance of protecting the site’s original character during the development work.
Historic Architecture to Remain Protected
Authorities have directed officials to preserve Kamran’s Baradari’s original architecture throughout the restoration process.
The project will therefore combine heritage conservation with new recreational features. Officials must ensure that modern additions do not compromise the historical character of the site.
The Archaeology Department will support the project alongside the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa). The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) will also contribute to the development work.
Their involvement is expected to support both conservation efforts and improvements to the surrounding facilities.
New Recreational Facilities Planned
The expanded development plan includes several attractions designed to make the historic site more appealing to visitors.
Earlier proposals included the Ravi Show Restaurant, atrium dining and ship dining facilities. Plans also featured sky dining and wooden bakery outlets.
In addition, authorities proposed golf courts and dedicated walkways across the expanded area.
Buggy tracks could also provide visitors with another way to explore the site. Meanwhile, fountains and play areas could make the location more suitable for families.
The plan also includes selfie points, which could attract younger visitors and encourage social media engagement.
Heritage and Recreation to Come Together
The expansion gives Kamran’s Baradari a larger area for both conservation and public recreation. However, preserving the site’s historical value remains a key part of the project.
The planned landscaping and visitor facilities could improve the overall appearance of the historic location. Moreover, better parking and lighting could make visits more convenient.
Authorities now face the challenge of balancing modern development with heritage protection. Any new facilities must complement the historic structure rather than overshadow it.
If implemented carefully, the project could turn Kamran’s Baradari into a major recreational and heritage destination.
