A French woman and her four children have been rescued from an alleged domestic violence situation in Khyberโs Bara tehsil, police officials said on Monday. Authorities have also registered a case against her husband.
According to Peshawar Capital City Police Officer Dr. Mian Saeed, police conducted a raid on June 18 after receiving a tip-off. During the operation, officers recovered French national Salwa Yasmin, who was facing abuse inside a house in the area.

Furthermore, officials said Salwa Yasmin married a Pakistani national and had been living in Bara since 2014. During questioning, she told authorities that her husband had mistreated her and prevented her from leaving the house.
Following the rescue, police moved the woman and her four children to the Women’s Police Station in Peshawar. She has also expressed her desire to return to France.
In addition, authorities confirmed that the victims are receiving protection while legal procedures continue.
Investigation and Diplomatic Coordination
Meanwhile, police have launched further investigations into the allegations. A criminal case has been registered against the woman’s husband, and authorities are collecting additional evidence.
The Foreign Office has also been informed about the incident. Officials said a letter has been sent to the French Embassy through diplomatic channels to facilitate further coordination.
The case remains under investigation as police continue legal proceedings and work with relevant authorities regarding the woman’s request to return to France.
