LAHORE: A massive fire erupted in the Miranpur forest in Lodhran late Thursday night, destroying trees worth millions of rupees, according to rescue officials.
Rescue 1122 and local fire brigade teams immediately launched an emergency operation after receiving reports of the blaze. The fire spread rapidly across nearly four acres of forest land, causing extensive damage to trees and vegetation in the area. However, rescue workers managed to bring the situation under control after continuous efforts.
Rescue Teams Launch Swift Operation
According to Rescue 1122 officials, firefighters controlled the blaze after a 35-minute operation. Emergency teams used multiple firefighting vehicles and equipment to prevent the flames from spreading further into the forest.
Officials stated that the fire erupted due to unknown reasons. Nevertheless, the quick response from rescue authorities helped contain the flames before they could affect nearby areas. Authorities also confirmed that no casualties were reported during the incident.
Forest Department Begins Investigation
Meanwhile, the Forest Department started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Officials estimated that the blaze caused losses of nearly Rs3 million due to the destruction of valuable trees.
Environmental experts have expressed concern over recurring forest fires, especially during hot and dry weather conditions. Consequently, authorities urged citizens to report any suspicious activity or signs of fire immediately to avoid further environmental damage.
The administration also stressed the importance of protecting forests, which play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance and supporting local wildlife.
