Pakistan’s security forces have killed 11 militants during intelligence-based operations in Kharan and Washuk districts of Balochistan. According to a security forces statement, the operations took place on September 6 and 7 following reports of militants linked to what authorities describe as an Indian-sponsored group, Fitna al-Hindustan.
Eight Militants Killed in Kharan
On September 6, security forces intercepted militants who allegedly attempted to establish a roadblock in Kharan.
The militants reportedly sought to disrupt local traffic. Security forces responded promptly and engaged the group.
The operation resulted in the deaths of eight militants, according to the security forces.
Authorities said the action prevented the reported attempt to block the road and disrupt movement in the area.
Washuk Operation Recovers Explosives
Security forces conducted another intelligence-based operation in Washuk on September 7 after receiving information about the presence of militants.
During the operation, troops located and cleared a militant hideout. An intense exchange of fire followed, resulting in three militants being killed.
Security forces also recovered 2.9 tonnes of explosives from the location. Authorities said the material was being used to prepare improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Sanitisation operations are continuing to locate and eliminate any other militants who may remain in the area.
The security forces said the counterterrorism campaign under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” vision will continue at full pace.
President and PM Praise Security Forces
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised security forces following the operations in Kharan and Washuk. In separate statements, both leaders commended the forces for killing 11 militants during the operations.
President Zardari also praised the recovery of 2.9 tonnes of explosives in Washuk. He said operations against Fitna al-Hindustan would continue until terrorist networks are eliminated. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the forces for preventing the reported roadblock attempt in Kharan.
He also commended their efforts in destroying the hideout in Washuk and recovering the explosives.
The prime minister said operations against Fitna al-Khawarij and other militant elements would continue with full force.
