Secretary Housing and Works retired Captain Mohammad Mahmood has directed the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) to accelerate work on the Sky Garden Housing Project. Mahmood issued the instructions during a visit to the project, where he reviewed ongoing development activities and pending matters.
Focus on Environment and Land Protection
The secretary stressed the need to protect the project’s natural terrain during construction. He directed officials to minimise unnecessary land cutting and protect pine trees and other vegetation. Moreover, he ordered FGEHA to adopt suitable measures to control soil erosion and stabilise slopes across the development.
Mahmood also called for a comprehensive water channelisation plan that considers rainwater and natural water-flow routes.
He gave particular attention to drainage and sewerage systems. The systems must prevent water-related problems during and after construction.
Possession to Follow Basic Facilities
Mahmood directed FGEHA to hand over possession only after completing essential facilities and ensuring adequate residential infrastructure. Officials briefed him on progress in Blocks A, B and D under Package-I.
Development work in all three blocks has reached its final stages. FGEHA plans to hand over possession of these blocks to allottees by December 31, 2026.
The authority is also working to resolve outstanding technical and administrative matters required for completion.
Sky Garden Project Has 4,255 Plots
The Sky Garden Housing Project comprises 4,255 plots, according to officials. Of these, 2,470 plots have already been allotted. The latest instructions aim to speed up remaining development while maintaining construction standards and protecting the surrounding environment.
Meanwhile, drainage, sewerage and water management remain important parts of the project’s completion plan. FGEHA will now focus on completing pending work within the stipulated timelines before beginning possession handovers.
The development is expected to provide residential facilities while maintaining environmental safeguards across the project area.
