Negotiations Fail to Break Political Deadlock
Talks between the federal government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ended without an agreement on Sunday. The development came as authorities tightened security in Islamabad ahead of the party’s planned long march.
The negotiations were aimed at addressing the ongoing political standoff between the government and PTI. However, the two sides failed to reach a settlement during the latest round of discussions.
The absence of an agreement has increased uncertainty over the planned protest and the government’s response. Authorities have now expanded security arrangements across the capital to restrict access to sensitive areas and maintain public order.
Containers Deployed Across Key Routes
Authorities have placed containers along important roads in Islamabad. Containers have also been positioned near the Red Zone, while additional barriers are being moved toward major entry points.
The measures are intended to limit access to the capital and prevent the movement of protesters toward sensitive government areas.
Security personnel have also been mobilised. Police officers from Sindh have already arrived in Islamabad to support local law enforcement. Additional Punjab police personnel have been kept on standby in case further deployment is required.
Rangers Deployment Sought Until October 15
The Islamabad administration has also requested an extension of the deployment of 3,000 Pakistan Rangers personnel.
Officials have sought to keep the Rangers deployed in the capital from October 5 to October 15. The force is expected to assist police in maintaining law and order during the period.
The latest measures reflect growing concerns over possible disruption linked to the PTI march. With talks ending without an agreement, attention is now focused on whether further political negotiations can prevent confrontation and ease tensions in the capital.
