The Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) has urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to immediately restore the “Change in Particulars” facility, commonly known as Form 181, on the IRIS portal for sales tax registered persons.
According to the association, the suspension of the facility has created operational and legal difficulties for taxpayers. Consequently, many businesses are struggling to update their registration details through the online system.
The PTBA conveyed its concerns in a letter addressed to Member Inland Revenue (Operations) Zubair Bilal.
Suspension Creates Compliance Challenges
The association stated that taxpayers are currently unable to make essential amendments to their business information using the IRIS portal.
As a result, routine business activities have been disrupted. Moreover, taxpayers are facing challenges in complying with legal and regulatory requirements.
The PTBA noted that the inability to update registration particulars has affected businesses that require timely modifications to maintain accurate tax records.
Businesses Face Unnecessary Hardship
According to the association, the unavailability of Form 181 has created unnecessary hardship for genuine taxpayers.
Many registered businesses depend on the facility to revise important registration details whenever changes occur. However, the suspension has prevented them from completing these updates through the official portal.
The PTBA maintained that such delays could complicate compliance obligations for taxpayers attempting to meet regulatory requirements within prescribed timelines.
Association Urges FBR to Act Quickly
The PTBA has requested the FBR to restore the Form 181 facility without further delay.
It emphasized that reinstating the feature would allow taxpayers to update their information efficiently while reducing unnecessary administrative hurdles.
Furthermore, the association believes that restoring the service will help businesses continue their operations without avoidable interruptions.
Restoring the Facility Could Improve Compliance
The PTBA said that reactivating Form 181 would strengthen voluntary tax compliance by making the IRIS portal fully functional for registered taxpayers.
In addition, businesses would be able to meet their legal obligations more smoothly through timely updates to their registration records.
The association urged the tax authority to resolve the issue promptly so taxpayers can continue using the IRIS portal without disruption.
