Nationwide Offices to Observe Weekend as Regular Working Days
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed tax offices across the country to remain operational over the weekend in an effort to facilitate taxpayers and support revenue collection activities.
According to an official announcement issued on Friday, all Large Taxpayersโ Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayersโ Offices (MTOs), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) will continue functioning on Saturday and Sunday as normal working days.
The decision aims to provide additional time and assistance to taxpayers seeking to complete their tax-related obligations before the close of the collection period.
Meanwhile, tax officials have been instructed to ensure the smooth continuation of services and maintain normal operations throughout the weekend.
Additionally, the move is expected to help individuals and businesses process payments, submit documentation, and resolve pending tax matters without interruption.
The FBR frequently adopts such measures during critical revenue collection periods to maximize convenience for taxpayers and strengthen compliance efforts.
Revenue Collection Efforts Intensify Ahead of Fiscal Deadlines
According to the official statement, the designated tax offices will observe May 30 and May 31 as regular working days specifically for the collection of duties and taxes.
Furthermore, the extended working schedule reflects the governmentโs broader efforts to meet revenue targets and improve tax administration efficiency.
Officials believe the additional operational days will provide taxpayers with greater flexibility while reducing last-minute pressure on tax offices.
At the same time, businesses and individual taxpayers have been encouraged to take advantage of the extended office hours to complete outstanding payments and fulfill regulatory requirements.
Meanwhile, revenue authorities continue focusing on measures designed to improve tax collection and expand compliance across various sectors of the economy.
The decision comes as fiscal authorities intensify preparations ahead of the new budget cycle and work to strengthen revenue performance before the end of the current financial year.
Observers note that keeping tax offices open during weekends has become a common administrative tool used to support collection efforts and improve taxpayer services during important reporting periods.
