The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has ordered its officers and employees to disclose foreign citizenship details. The directive also covers foreign passports, travel documents and marriages to foreign nationals.
FBR issued a final reminder after the 90-day deadline for submitting declarations expired on August 30.
Officials who have not submitted the required information have been directed to complete the process immediately.
Foreign passports and marriages must also be reported
Under the directive, FBR officers must report any foreign passport or other travel document they possess.
Officials married to foreign nationals must also provide details of their marriages.
Furthermore, the prescribed declaration covers foreign citizenship held by officials and their family members.
The completed forms must be sent by email to the relevant secretaries in the Management Wing.
FBR has instructed all concerned officials to ensure compliance with the directive.
Non-compliance may lead to disciplinary action
The tax authority has warned officials about the consequences of failing to submit the required declaration.
Officials who do not provide the requested information may face disciplinary action. Moreover, providing false information could lead to further proceedings.
Non-compliance may be treated as misconduct under the applicable civil service rules.
Meanwhile, false declarations can trigger proceedings under the Civil Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 2020.
Therefore, FBR has directed all concerned personnel to provide accurate information within the required process.
