The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has auctioned Bahria Town’s 527 kanal and 10 marla property in Murree. The sale aims to recover outstanding tax liabilities worth Rs. 26.47 billion.
The property is located at Mauza Kathar Sharqi on Angori Road. It falls within Tehsil Murree in Rawalpindi District. Moreover, the auction followed the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, and Income Tax Rules, 2002.
New Bidder Secures Murree Land
FBR conducted the public auction after several previous attempts. Earlier, businessman Musawar Abbasi had emerged as the highest bidder. However, that transaction was not completed.
Consequently, the tax authority re-advertised the auction. This time, another Pakistani businessman submitted the highest bid. However, officials have not disclosed the buyer’s identity.
The auction notice also stated that FBR could accept or reject any bid. Therefore, the authority retained full discretion throughout the process.
Property Sold To Recover Outstanding Taxes
The auction was held against unpaid tax liabilities of Rs. 26.47 billion. FBR launched the sale to recover part of the outstanding amount.
According to sources, the property’s total purchase cost reached approximately Rs. 825 million, including applicable taxes. Furthermore, the successful bidder must complete all required payment procedures.
The sale marks another step in FBR’s efforts to recover unpaid taxes. Meanwhile, authorities continue taking action against tax defaulters through legal procedures.
