Five members of a family, including three children, have died under mysterious circumstances in Greater Noida, India, after reportedly eating instant noodles for dinner. Authorities are investigating the incident, but the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed.
The deaths occurred in Nagla Shri Padam village in Uttar Pradesh. Police launched an investigation after discovering the family members dead at their home on Saturday morning.
Couple and Three Children Among the Victims
Police identified the deceased as Mahesh, 37, his wife Lalita, 35, and their three children. The children included two boys, aged 11 and three, and a seven-year-old girl.
The family had reportedly eaten noodles on Friday night before going to sleep. Their bodies were discovered the following morning, prompting police and forensic teams to examine the scene.
The couple’s elderly mother, who also lived at the house, survived. Reports said she had not eaten the same meal.
Food Poisoning Suspected, but Cause Remains Unclear
Police initially considered food poisoning as a possible explanation for the deaths. Investigators collected food samples and other evidence from the house and sent the bodies for post-mortem examinations.
However, food safety officials said the cause had not been established. An initial inspection of food packets reportedly found no expired products or obvious signs of contamination.
Officials also noted that the family’s circumstances did not clearly match common symptoms of food poisoning. Investigators are therefore examining the possibility of poisoning while awaiting scientific and post-mortem findings.
Authorities Continue Investigation
A forensic team inspected the home and collected evidence for laboratory analysis. Police said further action would depend on the findings of the post-mortem examinations and other tests.
A relative also reportedly raised concerns about a possible family dispute. Authorities have not established whether that allegation has any connection to the deaths.
Investigators have yet to confirm whether the noodles, another substance or a separate factor caused the tragedy. No conclusion should be drawn about the product without verified evidence.
The case remains under investigation as authorities work to establish what happened to the five family members.
