ECP summons meeting
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned a crucial meeting on Monday (Aug 7) to discuss the removal of Imran Khan as PTI chief after his conviction in the Toshakhana case.
A district and sessions court in Islamabad held Imran Khan guilty of corruption in the Toshakhana case. Judge Humayun Dilawar awarded three years imprisonment to Imran Khan for corruption and Rs 100,000 as a fine for submitting fake evidence.

Meanwhile, the ECP would also to discuss the possibility of holding the general elections in the wake of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) decision to hold the next elections according to the 2023 Census.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja will chair the meeting. Members of the Commission and senior officials will ensure their presence in Monday’s meeting.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 2 pm on Monday, sources in the ECP told The Truth International.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his satisfaction over the unanimous approval of the 7th Digital Census by the Council of Common Interests (CCI).
Taking to Twitter, he emphasized that this milestone decision would further strengthen the federation of Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz highlighted the collaborative efforts of the stakeholders during the census process. He said that the government invited the political parties’ representatives to participate in the CCI meeting.
The Digital Census indicates about 241 million total population in Pakistan.
The judge who punished Imran Khan leaves for training in the United Kingdom
Notably, the district and sessions judge Humayun Dilawar, who awarded the sentence to Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case has left for the UK to undergo professional training.
Dilawar awarded three years in jail to Imran Khan after finding him guilty of corruption in the Toshakhana case. The Judge also imposed Rs 100,000 fine on Khan for submitting fake information/evidence in his declaration in the case.
