Police have arrested the prime suspect in the murder of a 16-year-old girl after solving what investigators described as a challenging blind murder case in Karachi’s Kemari area.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Masroor Ahmed Jatoi, investigators achieved the breakthrough through continuous efforts, modern technical analysis, and scientific investigation methods.
The case remained under investigation after the victim’s body was discovered inside her apartment earlier this year. However, investigators eventually traced the suspect through professional tracking and technical evidence.
Victim Found Dead Inside Her Apartment
The incident came to light on March 4 when 16-year-old Armish was found dead on a bed inside her apartment. A noose was tied around her neck.
Armish lived with her mother because her father had already passed away. On the day of the incident, her mother was away at work.
After discovering her daughter’s body, the grieving mother registered a case against unknown suspects. Consequently, police launched a detailed investigation to identify those responsible.
Investigation Leads to Former Fiancรฉ
During the investigation, police identified the suspect as Faizan, son of Muhammad Ishaq.
Authorities said Faizan was a close relative of the victim and her former fiancรฉ. He also lived with his family on an upper floor of the same residential building where the crime occurred.
Investigators revealed that the suspect allegedly held a grudge against Armish after she ended their engagement to marry someone else.
Police Reveal Alleged Sequence of Events
According to the initial investigation, Faizan allegedly entered Armish’s apartment while her mother was away from home.
Police said the suspect allegedly assaulted the teenager before strangling her to death.
Investigators further alleged that he later tried to avoid suspicion by joining police officers and the victim’s family in searching for the “unknown” killers after the incident.
Technical Investigation Helped Crack the Case
The breakthrough came under the leadership of Inspector Zubair Nawaz, the Section Investigation Officer (SIO) of Jackson police.
His investigation team used advanced technical analysis and professional tracking techniques to identify and arrest the suspect.
Police said the evidence collected during the investigation strengthened the case against Faizan.
Rape Charge Added as Investigation Continues
Following evidence obtained during interrogation, investigators have added Section 376, which relates to punishment for rape, to the existing murder charges.
Authorities have now presented the suspect before a court to obtain his physical remand for further questioning.
Meanwhile, police continue the legal process as the investigation moves forward.
