Sanjeeda Sheikh Shines in Back-to-Back Releases and Opens Up About Harassment Incident

Indian actress Sanjeeda Sheikh had an impressive start to the year with two consecutive releases. Beginning with “Fighter,” which hit theaters in January and starred Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor, Sanjeeda’s momentum continued with her latest release, “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

“Heeramandi” began streaming on Netflix on May 1 and featured an ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Sharmin Seygal, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, and Taaha Shah. The series received an outstanding response from audiences, with Sanjeeda, who portrayed the character of Waheeda, receiving high praise for her performance.

Additionally, the excitement among fans increased with the announcement of the second season of “Heeramandi” on Monday.

In a recent interview, Sanjeeda recounted an incident that occurred in a nightclub where she was harassed by a woman. She described how the woman unexpectedly touched her chest and left without any explanation.

“I remember one incident very vividly, but it was by a woman. I was in a nightclub. One woman was passing by, and she just touched my breast out of the blue and then left. I was really taken aback, by what just happened. We often hear about men misbehaving, but women can also cross boundaries,” Sanjeeda said.

She emphasized that inappropriate behavior is not gender-specific and is about individuals choosing to act wrongly. “If you are headed down the wrong path, you are going on it regardless. It has nothing to do with men or women; whatever is wrong is wrong. If a woman has done wrong by you, tell her. According to me, playing the victimhood card is very unpleasant,” she added.

Sanjeeda’s candid reflection on the incident and her perspective on accountability resonated with many, highlighting that the responsibility for inappropriate actions lies with the individual, irrespective of their gender.
