LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Information Minister Amir Mir announced the reopening of the long-closed Arts Council cinema in Murree starting from Sept 08.

To revive cultural activities in Punjab, Caretaker Minister Amir Mir chaired a high-level meeting in Lahore. During the meeting, a plan was unveiled to revitalize all 12 Arts Councils throughout the province.

Mir announced significant reforms during the meeting, including revisions to the Dramatic Performance Act of 1876.

These changes signal a modernization of the regulations governing artistic and theatrical performances.

As part of an initiative to rejuvenate cultural engagement and provide a platform for local filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts, Mir decided to reopen the Arts Council cinema in Murree starting on Friday (Sept 08).

The government has initiated work on formulating a comprehensive strategy for the restoration and conservation of fine arts.

Mir announced the establishment of a dedicated fund for the repair and maintenance of Arts Council buildings.

The caretaker government is demonstrating its commitment to nurturing the creative spirit of the province. It will create an environment where the art can thrive.

NAB grills former PTI Ministers

Meanwhile, the National Accountability Bureau today grilled former PTI ministers Sania Nishtar and Amin Aslam in the £190 million scam case.

Both recorded their statements with the NAB’s Rawalpindi office on Thursday.

The NAB’s combined investigation team questioned both individuals for over an hour. NAB is in the process of recording statements from all members of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s cabinet as part of the case.

In July, Khan’s former Principal Secretary, Azam Khan, also recorded his statement in connection with the case.

This case revolves around the transfer of £190 million from the UK to Pakistan via a National Crimes Agency Settlement involving Malik Riaz.

The case alleges that former PM Khan engaged in collusion and corruption that prevented the money. The money intended for the national exchequer, but PTI government returned it to the property tycoon.

It also accuses Imran Khan of receiving land for the Al-Qadir trust in exchange, a trust overseen by his wife, Bushra Bibi.
