Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, renowned for her charm and poise on-screen, has vehemently condemned an incident in Quetta where an object was hurled at her during an event, deeming it “unacceptable.”
In an Instagram post, Mahira Khan expressed her disapproval, stating, “No one should think it’s okay to throw something on stage, even if it’s a flower wrapped in a paper plane. It sets the wrong precedent. It is unacceptable.”
The unsettling incident occurred while Mahira was attending the Pakistan Literature Festival (PLF) in Quetta. Although the object did not strike her, it left her visibly startled and disheartened.
Expressing her dismay, Mahira stressed, “This is wrong,” as her interaction with the event host was disrupted by the unidentified individual’s action from the crowd.
Despite acknowledging occasional concerns for her safety and the risk of being engulfed in a chaotic situation, Mahira opposed the idea of halting events in Quetta.
Highlighting the overwhelming display of love and enthusiasm from the vast crowd of 10,000 attendees, Mahira emphasized that the miscreant responsible was merely an anomaly among the multitude. She firmly asserted that discontinuing events is not the solution and advocated for more such gatherings across Pakistan to promote awareness and education.
Reflecting on the incident, Mahira pondered on alternative actions, suggesting that she could have left the stage or the crowd could have been screened. However, she remained undeterred by the unfortunate occurrence and expressed her affection for Quetta, hinting at future visits and appreciating the warmth and hospitality she experienced.
While acknowledging the regrettable incident, Mahira noted that such occurrences are not uncommon at large gatherings worldwide, where a few individuals’ actions tarnish the reputation of the entire audience.
