Madhuri Dixit was honored with the Special Recognition for Contribution to Bharatiya Cinema award at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), drawing praise from Union Minister of Sports Anurag Thakur for her extraordinary talent.
Thakur took to X platform to laud Madhuri’s performances, citing her diverse roles from the vibrant Nisha to the enchanting Chandramukhi, the regal Begum Para to the fearless Rajjo, showcasing her boundless versatility.
In a star-studded ceremony held at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Goa to kick off the 54th edition of IFFI, various luminaries including Vijay Sethupathi, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Sunny Deol, Karan Johar, Shantanu Moitra, Shreya Ghoshal, and Sukhwinder Singh graced the event.
As per the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s press release, the festival’s opening film will be the thriller “Catching Dust,” directed by the renowned British director Stuart Gatt. Following this, the mid-fest feature “About Dry Grasses,” directed by French director Nuri Bilge Ceylan, will be showcased, culminating with Robert Kolodny’s “The Featherweight.”
Heading the jury for the best online series (OTT) category at the 54th IFFI is filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, alongside directors Utpal Borpujari, Krishna DK, Divya Dutta, and Prosenjit Chatterjee.
A record-breaking 32 entries from 15 OTT platforms across 10 languages have been shortlisted for the inaugural best online series award.
