Karan Johar Condemns Comedian’s Mimicry as ‘Exceptionally Poor Taste’

Karan Johar

Karan Johar’s disappointment with comedian Kettan Singh’s mimicry act has sparked a response from the comedian, who issued a sincere apology to the filmmaker, clarifying his intentions.

Johar expressed his frustration on Instagram over Singh’s portrayal of him in a promo for the comedy show “Madness Machayenge – India Ko Hasayenge,” without explicitly naming the channel or the comedian.

In his Instagram post, Johar shared his disappointment at witnessing the mimicry act while watching television with his mother, labeling it as being in “poor taste.”

He expressed sadness rather than anger, lamenting the lack of respect from within the industry, especially after his long-standing tenure in the business.

Responding to Johar’s sentiments, Kettan Singh expressed remorse in an interview with Times Now, extending his apology to the filmmaker. Singh, a fan of Johar’s work, emphasized that his intention was not to cause harm but to entertain the audience.

He acknowledged Johar’s reaction to the promo and admitted to not having seen the full episode, expressing his willingness to gauge audience and Johar’s reactions post-viewing.

Singh clarified that while he used to mimic Johar on shows like “The Kapil Sharma Show,” his portrayal on “Madness Machayenge” was a first. He emphasized his apology to Johar and stated that he did not intend to offend him or anyone else.

“Madness Machayenge – India Ko Hasayenge” is a sketch comedy show featuring actress Huma Qureshi as the judge.

The controversy surrounding Singh’s mimicry act underscores the importance of sensitivity and respect in the entertainment industry, highlighting the need for artists to be mindful of their actions and their potential impact on others.
