Introducing the charming new police officer in China

A police dog recently joined the force in the eastern Chinese city of Weifang, Shandong, following successful completion of its training, as reported by Xinhua. This unexpected addition to the team showcases the city’s innovative approach to law enforcement.

Following Fu Zai’s introduction, Chinese news outlets stated that this Corgi might be the first of its kind to join the police force.

The primary objective of this six-month-old Corgi is to challenge the conventional belief that dogs with short legs, like themselves, cannot be involved in law enforcement. This exceptional Corgi has managed to capture global attention due to its remarkable ability to detect explosives, proving that size doesn’t limit a dog’s potential in this field.

As stated in China Daily, the reserve police dog is engaged in numerous daily tasks involving various subjects. These tasks include obedience training, bomb detection, and scent tracking, which commenced when the dog was just two months old.

Wang Yanan, the leader of the police dog training facility at the Weifang Public Security Bureau, commented, “The dog’s exceptional ability to adapt to various environments, lack of sensitivity, desire to own objects, and love for food greatly benefit our training process.”

Leveraging its compact stature, this helpful tool aids officers in detecting items under vehicles and navigating confined areas. Its adorable appearance may also enhance public engagement with law enforcement.

Wang remarked, “Police dogs not only exhibit adorable appearances, but their trainers have invested considerable time and effort to ensure they become highly proficient professionals.”

Fu Zai needs to complete additional training exercises prior to officially commencing his duties.
