Indian actress and filmmaker, Pooja Bhatt, expressed her empathy for the children of Gaza during the Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

Sharing a poignant poem by Palestinian writer and poet Khaled Juma on X, the star of the film “Chaahat” conveyed her heartfelt support for the young ones affected by the conflict.

Tragically, among the 10,022 Palestinians who lost their lives in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza since October 7, at least 4,104 were innocent children.

While some applauded her solidarity with the children, her post faced criticism from a segment of Indian users who accused her of having double standards and questioned her motivations.

One commentator, Avinash, noted, “You’ve never spoken out for Kashmiri pundits, and now you’re addressing the situation in Gaza.”

The ongoing war in Gaza has taken a devastating toll, with at least 4000 children losing their lives, contributing to a total death count of 9,770 people, as reported by the Palestinian health ministry.

On a Sunday afternoon, an Israeli airstrike struck several houses near a school in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least 13 individuals, according to officials at Al-Aqsa Hospital.

This camp is home to approximately 46,000 people and had also been targeted last Thursday.

Medics evacuate wounded persons from the fence of the Gaza Strip border with Israel.

Verified footage depicted the heart-wrenching scene of people sifting through the rubble of homes in a desperate attempt to retrieve the victims.
