From Party Pals to BFFs: How Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha’s Friendship Blooms

From meeting at a 2017 party to becoming inseparable best friends, Huma Qureshi and Sonakshi Sinha are the ultimate BFF goals!

Their friendship didn’t start with an immediate connection. Their first encounter was at an after-party in Singapore following an award function. According to Sinha, “Huma is very chatty, while I’m more reserved. When we first met, I thought, ‘Why is she being so chatty?’ She was talking a lot!”

Huma Qureshi, on the other hand, has a different take: “At that after-party, I loved that Sona was dancing as wildly as I was. I kept wondering why we were getting so close. Once she makes you her person, there’s no turning back.

Their bond solidified years later when Sinha visited Qureshi’s home, thanks to her then-boyfriend and now-husband, Zaheer Iqbal. “We ended up spending a lot of time together, and after that, we just kept hanging out. Our friendship was cemented from that one time,” Sinha recalls.

When asked if Iqbal ever feels jealous of their friendship, Sinha humorously responds, “Both of them make me jealous since I met Huma through him. I had to joke about making sure she was on my side at our wedding!”

Their travel experiences highlight their contrasting preferences. Qureshi notes, “Sona likes places with water, while I love exploring new locations.” She recalls a trip to Amsterdam where she had booked the wrong Airbnb, leading them to be stranded with their bags. “We were on the road, unsure of what to do, but ended up laughing and deciding to get coffee and breakfast before figuring out our next steps,” Sinha adds.

Their admiration for each other is evident on Friendship Day. Qureshi praises Sinha, saying, “One quality I really admire in her is her reliability. If she says she’ll be there, she always is. Many people say things but don’t follow through, but with her, you get what you see, and I cherish that.”

Sinha reciprocates, admiring Qureshi’s “people management skills.” She explains, “I haven’t fully mastered it yet, but it’s something I aspire to. Huma gets along with everyone and knows how to handle situations. She’s always there for me, and I don’t hesitate to call her for advice or support.”

As for being part of a classic film about friendship, Qureshi playfully suggests, “If a female cast version of Sholay were ever made…”
