Hudson Meek, the young actor best known for his role in the 2017 film Baby Driver, has tragically passed away at the age of 16. He succumbed to blunt force injuries after falling from a moving vehicle two days earlier. Meek was pronounced dead on December 21 at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham.
The Jefferson County Coroner confirmed that Meek’s death was a result of the injuries he sustained in the fall, and the Vestavia Hills Police Department is currently investigating the incident, which occurred in the Birmingham suburb where Meek lived.
On Sunday, a post on Meek’s Instagram account confirmed his passing but provided few details about the tragic event. In a heartfelt tribute, Meek’s family shared, “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”
A memorial service for Meek will be held on Saturday, December 28, at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama. The service will also be available via livestream, as noted in a follow-up social media post and obituary.
The obituary described Meek as “reflective and thoughtful,” yet also “tenacious when he set his mind to something.” It praised his unique personality, noting his confidence, passion for his beliefs, spontaneity, and sharp wit. Known for his sense of humor, Meek enjoyed spinning funny stories and engaging in playful banter, always finding joy in making others laugh.
