Luxury fashion brand Christian Dior has reportedly replaced its long-time brand ambassador Bella Hadid, who is known for her pro-Palestine stance, with Israeli model May Tager in its latest ad campaign, as reported by Turkish news outlet Yeni Safak.
This replacement was later reported by an Israeli blog called Fashion Forward and has sparked calls for a boycott of the brand on social media.
Up to this point, neither Bella nor Dior has officially commented on this alleged replacement, creating some uncertainty about the accuracy of these reports.
Social media users are expressing their outrage using the hashtag #BoycottDior and highlighting May’s recent Instagram posts prominently featuring her in Dior’s new holiday campaign.
Bella has acknowledged in the past that her pro-Palestine stance has led to the loss of some fashion contracts. Despite the recent rumors, she continues to use her online platform to raise awareness about Israeli actions in Palestine.
On Instagram, Bella voiced her concerns about international law and the situation in Palestine, particularly regarding the IOF (Israeli Occupation Forces) and their actions in Gaza.
She expressed her distress over the harm caused to innocent civilians and questioned those who try to justify such treatment.
Bella, who has Palestinian heritage, had been Dior’s brand ambassador since 2016 and has used her celebrity platform to advocate for Palestinian rights.
She previously faced criticism for her initial silence following the October 7 attack by Hamas and Israel’s subsequent military actions in Gaza, while her sister Gigi Hadid openly condemned Israel.
Bella eventually broke her silence with a heartfelt message of support for Palestine and acknowledged receiving death threats after her phone number was leaked. She stated that she “cannot be silenced any longer.”
This isn’t the first time there have been calls for Dior to sever ties with Bella due to her pro-Palestine stance.
