England’s men’s cricket team has arrived in Islamabad ahead of the upcoming ODI tri-series featuring Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The tournament will bring three international sides together for seven matches across Rawalpindi and Lahore.
The England contingent includes a 16-player ODI squad led by captain Harry Brook. The team’s arrival marks the final stage of preparations before the series begins on October 18.
England Squad Prepares for Pakistan Challenge
England have selected a mix of experienced international players and emerging talent for the tour. The squad includes Joe Root, Ben Duckett, Sam Curran, Adil Rashid and Will Jacks.
Uncapped ODI players Mason Crane, Henry Crocombe and James Coles have also earned places in the squad. Their inclusion gives England an opportunity to assess new options in different playing conditions.
England will face Pakistan in their first match on October 20 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Tri-Series Begins in Rawalpindi
Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play the opening match on October 18 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. England will then face Pakistan on October 20 before taking on Sri Lanka two days later.
The tournament will move to Lahore for the remaining league matches. Gaddafi Stadium will host the fixtures scheduled for October 25, 27 and 29.
The top two teams will qualify for the final, scheduled for October 31 in Lahore.
Pakistan Looks to Home Advantage
Pakistan will use the tournament to test its ODI squad against two international opponents. Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead the side, which also includes Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah.
Sri Lanka will provide the third team in the competition under captain Kusal Mendis. The double-round format will give each side multiple opportunities to compete against both opponents.
With matches split between Rawalpindi and Lahore, the tournament will also offer local fans opportunities to watch international cricket at home.
