Days after announcing that the platform would be renamed “X” and the iconic blue bird logo would be removed, Twitter CEO Elon Musk now reveals plans for a makeover of the social media platform’s color scheme. Musk has stated that the platform will soon only have “dark mode” as an option.

Currently, Twitter users can choose from three background options: “Default” (white), “Dim” (gray), and “Lights out” (black). According to his tweet, Musk believes that having only the “dark mode” option will be “better in every way.”
Elon Musk’s response came after a user asked if he would change Twitter’s blue verification checkmark to a black-and-white one to match the new “X” logo.
The user’s original question was, “Blue tick or Black tick?” To which Musk replied, “I like black too, but it won’t work in the dark mode.”
Then, teasing the new design, Musk chimed in, revealing his plans to incorporate “dark mode” into the platform’s color scheme.
“Dark mode” is a popular feature used by several social media platforms. It features a dark gray background that is easier on the eyes and can save battery life on mobile devices.
Many Twitter users praised the idea, calling it a “genius idea” and expressing excitement for the upcoming changes.
This move is part of Musk’s ongoing rebranding efforts for Twitter, aiming to distance the platform from its previous ownership. He aims to transform it into an “everything app.”
Earlier this week, Musk introduced the new “X” logo, replacing the iconic blue bird, to signify the transformation of the microblogging website.
Musk also conducted a poll seeking his millions of followers’ opinions on changing Twitter’s color scheme from blue to black. It showcases his keen interest in reimagining the platform’s appearance.
