Weekly inflation Rises by 0.9%

ISLAMABAD:  The Weekly Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the Combined Group registered a slight 0.96% increase compared to the previous week, and it rose by 26.32% when compared to the same period last year.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the Combined Index stood at 279.87 compared to 277.21 on August 31, 2023. It was recorded at 221.55 a year ago on September 08, 2022.

Among 51 items, the average price of 32 items increased, 05 items decreased, and 14 items remained stable.

The weekly SPI percentage change by income groups indicates that SPI increased across all quantiles, ranging between 0.77% and 1.06%.

The Lowest Income Group observed a weekly increase of 0.77%, while the highest income group registered an increase of 1.06%.

Regarding the yearly analysis of SPI change across different income segments, SPI increased across all quantiles, ranging between 23.86% and 29.41%.

Yearly SPI for the Lowest Income Group went up by 26.41%, while the highest income group recorded an increase of 27.30%.

The average price of Sona urea reached Rs3,842 per 50 kg bag, marking a 0.97% increase compared to last week and a 57.97% increase compared to the previous year.

In the meantime, the average Cement price reached Rs1,191 per 50 kg bag, reflecting a 1.21% increase compared to the previous week and a 14.56% increase compared to last year.
