PM Shehbaz to Unveil Economic Survey and Discuss Budget Today

PM Shehbaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has convened a meeting of the federal cabinet today (Tuesday) to review the upcoming federal budget, which is slated to be presented before the National Assembly tomorrow (Wednesday).

This meeting is crucial as it allows the Prime Minister to discuss and finalize the budgetary proposals with his cabinet members before its formal presentation.

Additionally, this gathering provides an opportunity for PM Shehbaz to brief his cabinet on the outcomes of his recent visit to China.

According to a source from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the discussions will include strategic decisions and agreements made during this important diplomatic trip, ensuring that his aides are fully informed and aligned with the country’s economic and foreign policy directions.

In another significant development, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is scheduled to launch the Economic Survey 2023-24 on Tuesday afternoon.

The survey offers a comprehensive review of Pakistan’s economic performance over the past year, highlighting key sectors, growth rates, challenges, and achievements.

This document serves as a precursor to the federal budget, providing essential context and data that shape fiscal policies and priorities.

On a different note, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had a separate meeting with Prince Rahim Aga Khan.

During this meeting, the Prime Minister extended an invitation to the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) to expand its investments in Pakistan’s burgeoning tourism sector.

PM Shehbaz underscored the significant potential for growth and development within this industry, which could benefit from the AKDN’s expertise and resources.

The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to congratulate Prince Rahim Aga Khan on being awarded the Nishan-i-Pakistan, the country’s highest civilian honor.

He expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the AKDN’s longstanding contributions to social welfare projects in Pakistan, particularly in less developed and remote regions such as Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.

PM Shehbaz commended the AKDN for its initiatives across various sectors, including education, health, agriculture, tourism, and information technology.

He specifically highlighted the newly launched software technology park and solar power plants in Hunza, praising these projects for their positive impact on local communities and their contribution to sustainable development.

The day is poised to be a significant one in terms of Pakistan’s economic planning and international collaboration, marked by the launch of the Economic Survey and strategic discussions within the federal cabinet.

These activities reflect the government’s efforts to steer the country towards economic stability and growth while fostering partnerships that drive development across multiple sectors.
