Punjab feels the heat as petrol pumps run out of fuel
Motorists in Punjab’s major cities face a fuel shortage, prompting long lineups at petrol stations.
As the problem has reached a critical stage, people are now trapped and desperately attempting to find out how to keep their vehicles running.
A number of pumps have been shut off in major cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala.
The pumps have a filling limit of Rs200 for motorcycles and Rs5,000 for four-wheelers.
Gujrat, Gujranwala pumps close down
Customers may no longer purchase fuel at petrol stations in Gujrat and Gujranwala.
90% of gas stations, according to drivers, no longer offer fuel.
Furthermore, some gas stations have begun selling black fuel at exorbitant prices.
The authorities have been made aware of the situation.
Because people claim that the fuel was sold in the dark, hoarding can be connected to the root cause of the situation.
This convergence of issues has put drivers in a bind and driven them to seek solutions.
To make matters worse, dishonest people have taken advantage of the situation by storing fuel and selling it at exorbitant prices, placing the general public in a terrible situation.
This type of price gouging is the harsh medicine that customers who are already struggling to make ends meet must swallow.
The administration has been pushed on the defensive as a result of demands that they act fast to address the fuel shortage.
Punjab IG orders indiscriminate action against pumps
The Punjab police chief, Dr. Usman Anwar, has directed the force to take indiscriminate action against anyone who causes hardship to the people by fabricating a petrol shortage.
He issued directives to regional and district police officers to ensure personal monitoring of searches against unlawful stockpiling at depots and agencies.
According to Khawaja Atif, secretary of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association:
Around 70 of Lahore’s 450 pumps are empty, while OMC shortages have left 70% of Gujranwala’s pumps without gasoline.
According to Atif:
There hasn’t been any gasoline at the pumps in Faisalabad, Okara, Sahiwal, and other smaller towns for several days.
In Addition, Musadik Malik, the state minister for petroleum, has refuted rumours of a fuel shortage.
He claims that there would be enough gasoline and diesel for the next 20 days.
Furthermore, He warned that if gas station owners were discovered to be limiting gasoline supply, their licences would be revoked.
Moreover,
In this regard:
The Oil Tankers Contractors Association (OTCA) has requested an immediate meeting with the Petroleum Division to discuss the Oil Tankers Association’s stake in the White Oil Pipeline.
