ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has thrown a ‘bomb of bijly’ by sending Rs 20,000 bill to a consumer in H13/3 Islamabad for the month of May 2022. The amount of the current bill is double than two months combined previous bills of the consumer.
Importantly, the consumer is neither using air-conditioner nor oven nor any other electrical device which consumes too much electricity and it appears that the IESCO officials have deliberately sent excessive bill to extort maximum revenue from the consumers although the consumers are facing unprecedented load-shedding soon after the formation of the new government.
Moreover in July 2021, the consumer paid two months combined bill of Rs17,864 while in the month of Sept 2021, the consumer’s two months combined bill stood at Rs 19,088. Also, in Feb 2022, the two months electricity amounted to Rs13,936 only.
Thus, the consumer’s billing history shows the current bill of Rs 20,000 is much higher than two months combined bill.

Notably, soon after change in the government, IESCO has sent an excessive and unbearable bill to this consumer, who is also a senior journalist, living in H13/3 area.
The IESCO has mentioned consumption of 704 units in the monthly bill of May for the consumer although the history of the consumer shows that the monthly consumption of electricity never exceeded 500 units in the summer season.
Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Shehbaz Sharif, and Minister for Energy Division Khurram Dastagir Khan must take notice of this exploitative approach of the IESCO.
“For us, this is very shocking that IESCO has sent us a very excessive bill that too after change in the government. During PTI regime, we faced frequent hikes in power tariffs, but this time IESCO has crossed all the limits,” consumer said.
Chief Executive of IESCO is also requested to take notice of this injustice and exploitation.
NOTE: Some friends have also received hefty electricity bills in Islamabad in the month of May 2022 and their details will also be updated here. Consumers facing this problem can also make comments here to raise their voice against this organized fraud.
