ISLAMABAD: The government gave its approval for a series of major projects with a total value of Rs822 billion . These projects encompass various initiatives, such as the continuation of the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme
It also includes the construction of a new motorway in the province of Punjab.
Federal Minister of Finance, Ishaq Dar, presides over a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec). Where several significant decisions were made, including the reapproval of the Rs377 billion agricultural tube well project.
ECNEC also gave the green light to the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme at a revise cost of Rs16.8 billion.With Rs15.2 billion being obtained through a foreign loan. The project, fund by the federal government, is scheduled for completion by 2025.
Additionally, ECNEC approved a project by the Aviation Division aimed at modernizing hydromet services across the country, with a budget of Rs14.5 billion. This initiative will be carry out by the Pakistan Meteorological Department . It is finance by the World Bank as part of the Post-flood 2022 Reconstruction Programme.
Furthermore, a project title “Water Requirement for K-IV Project Improvement of Kalri Baghar Feeder & Keenjhar Lake. Plain Cement Concrete Lining of Karli Baghar Feeder Upper Phase-I Project” by the Ministry of Water Resources was also endorsing. The Rs40 billion project will be implement in the Jamshoro and Thatta districts of Sindh province. With equal funding shared by the federal and Sindh governments.
ECNEC (Executive Committee of the National Economic Council) approved a project for Punjab named “Lahore Ring Road-Southern Loop (SL-3) Construction of Road from Raiwind Road up to Multan Road” at a total cost of Rs17.8 billion. The project will be carry out in the Lahore district. It will be fully fund through the government of Punjab’s Annual Development Plan
