ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has directed all stakeholders to actively pursue initiatives of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) through collaboration, aiming for short to medium-term gains while initiating processes for long-term endeavors in the national interest.
The apex committee of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, chaired by the prime minister, included the chief of army staff, members of the federal cabinet, provincial chief ministers, and high-level government officials.
The committee reviewed progress on projects in key sectors and discussed plans to enhance the ecosystem for timely investments. They expressed extreme satisfaction with the overall progress under the SIFC, acknowledging increased engagement with friendly countries and the proactive strategy to involve the investor community, leading to improved traction and approvals domestically and globally.
The meeting approved policy-level interventions to boost investor confidence, including measures for profit repatriation, strengthening dispute resolution mechanisms, infrastructural and human resource development, and the prompt operationalization of the EXIM Bank. The committee emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategy to address oil and gas issues sustainably by investing in relevant industries.
The apex body also reviewed and appreciated progress on the privatization of state-owned enterprises, urging officials to maintain a fast pace in the process. The Chief of Army Staff reassured the Pakistan Army’s unwavering commitment to support government initiatives across various domains for the sustainable recovery of the economy.
