The World Bank has authorized an investment of $149.7M for two significant projects in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The World Bank has granted approval of a 149.7 million dollars to support two projects in Pakistan.

According to the information provided, the funds have been approved to finance initiatives focused on enhancing the digital economy and fostering better flood resilience.

In a declaration made by the global financial institution, this point has been mentioned.

The $78 million allocated for the Digital Economy Enhancement Project aims to improve financial management by implementing technology-based solutions and utilizing data-driven choices.

Investing in the digital economy may lead to more efficient public services, enhanced transparency, and stimulated economic growth.

Concurrently, the 71.7 million dollars allocated for the Sindh Barrages Improvement Project is expected to enhance flood resilience significantly.

In July of last year, the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors granted approval for a US$100 million investment. This financial support was allocated to enhance the utilization of family planning services within Pakistan’s Punjab province through the Punjab Family Planning Program.

“Najy Benhassine, World Bank Country Director for Pakistan, stated that the crucial objective of this program is to provide global access to reproductive healthcare and increase the utilization of family planning techniques in Punjab to 60% by 2030.”

“It is crucial for Pakistan’s progress, as high population growth rates negatively impact development, slow the buildup of human resources, and perpetuate family poverty.”

As per the given statement, the Punjab Family Planning Program aims to offer prompt and complimentary access to top-notch family planning services.

Furthermore, it intends to establish a standard of care excellence throughout the entire family planning services distribution network.

The program aims to expand successful strategies like clinical franchising, voucher programs, and family planning counseling led by community leaders, which have been tested in various districts of Punjab and have demonstrated positive impacts on family planning results.
