Dua Lipa has officially launched the Manifesto Library at Portugalโs historic Livraria Lello bookshop. This project marks the first physical expansion of her Service95 Book Club. She originally founded the digital platform in 2022 to recommend one monthly book. Furthermore, the global pop icon interviews each author for a companion podcast series.
Consequently, the physical space transforms the digital community into a vibrant hub. Visitors can explore different cultures or debate important literary ideas. Additionally, the library encourages thoughtful conversations about freedom of expression. During the inauguration, Lipa described the unique initiative as a dream partnership. She also called the collection a shrine to books that have disappeared. Therefore, she invited people to visit and decide what belongs on the shelves. In her view, reading and discussing a book is a highly subversive act.
The curated collection spans four major themes: power, voice, control, and memory. For example, featured titles include Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale and Reginald Dwayne Betts’ Felon. Pritzker Prize-winning architect รlvaro Siza designed the library’s location inside the shop’s new cultural auditorium. Finally, the singer shared photos from the launch event on her Instagram story.
