Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed has filed a complaint before the judicial commission investigating the death of businessman Mir Raza Ali.
In her complaint, she alleged that she was facing harassment and a negative campaign over her role in the case.
Dr Summaiya accused medico-legal officer Dr Osama Sheikh of leaking edited portions of their private conversation. She claimed the excerpts were shared with selected media outlets and digital platforms.
Dr Summaiya Questions Release of Private Conversation
According to her complaint, Dr Osama appeared before the commission three times but did not submit the complete recording of their conversation.
Dr Summaiya said presenting selected excerpts without the full context could create misunderstandings. She also expressed concern that the issue could divert attention from the main investigation.
She told the commission that she was willing to submit the complete recording, subject to its permission. According to her, reviewing the entire conversation could help clarify what was actually discussed.
The dispute comes amid continuing questions over the first and second post-mortem reports in the Mir Raza Ali case.
Dispute Over Post-Mortem Reports
Dr Summaiya further alleged that Dr Osama had initially accepted the interim post-mortem report as correct but later refused to recognise the final report.
She argued that once a multi-member medical board conducts a post-mortem examination, an earlier report becomes secondary.
The police surgeon also maintained that some of Dr Osama’s conclusions regarding the gunshot wounds conflicted with the available scientific evidence.
The judicial commission has previously questioned discrepancies between the initial and final post-mortem reports. It has also examined Dr Osama over changes in the findings.
Audio Recording Adds to Controversy
An audio recording involving Dr Summaiya and Dr Osama has also surfaced during the dispute.
In the recording, Dr Summaiya can allegedly be heard discussing the preparation and release of the post-mortem report.
She reportedly told Dr Osama that the report would be issued in his name. She also discussed preparing the report together before its release.
However, the contents and context of the recording remain disputed. The audio has not independently established the claims made by either side.
Judicial Commission Continues Investigation
The controversy is part of a wider investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza Ali’s death.
Dr Summaiya previously told the commission that she faced threats and was followed by unidentified motorcyclists. She also alleged that personal information about her and her family was circulated online.
Meanwhile, the commission continues to examine the conduct of officials involved in the investigation and the medical examinations.
The panel has questioned both doctors over the disputed post-mortem findings. It has also sought additional records and evidence related to the case.
For now, the allegations made by Dr Summaiya and Dr Osama remain part of the ongoing proceedings. The judicial commission is yet to issue a final determination on the disputed medical findings or responsibility for any alleged misconduct.
