Family Targeted on Way Home
According to the complainant, Abdul Mateen, he had gone to Johar for dinner with his wife and one-year-old child.
While returning home, he noticed a double-cabin vehicle following their car near Nagan Chowrangi. The occupants later intercepted the family on a service road in Sector 11-B, North Karachi.
Mateen alleged that several men stepped out of the vehicle and physically assaulted him. He also claimed that the suspects threatened him and pulled his wife’s dupatta, leaving their young child frightened.
Police Register Case Against Named Suspects
The complainant identified the alleged attackers as Bilawal Soomro, Umair Soomro, Hasham, Ehtisham and Faizan. He claimed they belonged to the same neighbourhood.
Police confirmed that a case had been registered under charges relating to rioting, assault and other offences.
However, another report identified four suspects in the registered case: Bilawal Soomro, Umar Soomro, Ehtisham and Faizan.
Investigation Underway
Police said further investigation was underway following the registration of the complaint. Authorities have also begun efforts to trace the nominated suspects.
