The Sindh Education Department has expanded its digital attendance system to 3,481 government schools. The initiative aims to modernise education monitoring and improve student attendance across the province. Authorities also plan to digitise every government school by April 2027.
The department launched the initiative under directives from Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah. Each student will receive a digital educational profile containing attendance, academic performance, and examination records. By August 10, officials had enrolled 3,481 schools in the new system.
The Sindh Cabinet approved the digital attendance policy in March 2026. Meanwhile, authorities will use the platform to monitor daily attendance and identify prolonged absences. Consequently, officials can detect students at risk of dropping out earlier.
Parents To Receive Absence Alerts
Each student will receive a unique Student ID and QR code under the system. Furthermore, parents will receive SMS alerts when children remain absent for extended periods. These notifications will help families identify reasons for absenteeism and encourage students to continue their education.
The department said the platform will also support academic reporting and certificate issuance. Moreover, officials have added an offline attendance option for schools with limited internet connectivity. This feature will allow schools in remote areas to maintain digital records despite connectivity problems.
System Integrates Advanced Digital Features
The platform includes geofenced attendance and facial recognition technology for improved monitoring. It has also been integrated with several key education-related digital platforms. Therefore, authorities expect the system to strengthen oversight across government schools.
According to the department, the platform will eventually connect with NADRA and the Benazir Income Support Programme. This integration will help streamline students’ educational records and improve data management. Additionally, officials expect the reforms to support better planning across Sindh’s education sector.
The government aims to complete the province-wide digitisation process by April 2027. As a result, digital monitoring could become a central part of Sindh’s public education system.
