The resignation of India’s Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, prompted celebrations among protesters at Jantar Mantar. However, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke made it clear that the movement would continue despite the political development.
Dipke joined supporters from the stage, waved the Indian tricolour, and sang Vande Mataram by A.R. Rahman. The gathering celebrated the resignation while reaffirming its commitment to the ongoing protest.
Dipke Calls Resignation a Victory for Protesters
Addressing the crowd, Dipke described the resignation as proof that sustained public pressure can bring political change.
“Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned and this is the proof that if you don’t get scared, you can win.”
He also encouraged citizens to continue speaking out in a democratic system.
“You should not be scared to speak in a democracy. Only if you raise your voice, they will stay in line because they are sitting in power because of us.”
His remarks were welcomed by supporters, who responded with slogans and celebrations at the protest venue.
Protest Will Continue Despite Resignation
Although protesters celebrated the minister’s resignation, Dipke announced that the campaign would not end.
He said the resignation represented only the first achievement of a broader movement.
“This is the first wicket. We won’t stop here. This is just the beginning. I salute all students and all the volunteers who have been sitting here for the last 36 days.”
He praised students and volunteers who had remained part of the demonstration throughout the protest period.
Dipke Says Two More Demands Remain
Following his address, Dipke also shared a post on X. He uploaded a photograph of himself holding the Indian Constitution and wrote, “thank you.”
However, he stressed that the movement still had unresolved objectives.
“We have two more demands. We will not go like that. We are cockroaches. Once it enters, it does not leave. Only one resignation has happened for now. Don’t mess with the cockroach,” he said.
His comments indicated that protesters intend to continue their demonstrations until the remaining demands are addressed.
Demonstrators Signal Next Phase of Movement
The latest announcement suggests that the resignation has strengthened the protesters’ resolve rather than concluded the campaign.
While supporters celebrated what they described as a significant milestone, organisers emphasised that the movement would continue in pursuit of its remaining objectives.
With public demonstrations still underway, attention is now focused on whether authorities will respond to the protesters’ outstanding demands in the coming days.
