Pakistani actor Sheheryar Munawar has finally revealed what lies behind Abubakar’s quiet affection for Zaryab in the popular drama Dar-e-Nijaat. His recent comments have offered fans a fresh perspective on the character’s feelings.
Speaking to Haroon Rasheed for BBC Asian Network, the actor explained that Abubakar has loved Zaryab all along, even when his actions suggested otherwise.
Abubakar’s Love Was Hidden in Small Gestures
Sheheryar said he deliberately included subtle clues to show Abubakar’s affection. For instance, the character often steals glances at Zaryab when visiting her home.
The actor also pointed to a scene in which Abubakar remembers that Zaryab likes pasta. He had heard this detail from Kishwar Khala only once, yet he remembered it.
Sheheryar explained that such small moments reveal feelings Abubakar rarely expresses openly. Although his mind sometimes tells him Zaryab may not be the right match, his heart feels differently.
Sheheryar Explains Abubakar’s Flaws
The actor also discussed the weaknesses behind Abubakar’s gentle personality. He described him as a people-pleaser who struggles to say no and often feels responsible for others.
According to Sheheryar, Abubakar also has a saviour complex. His upbringing taught him to help people, leaving him with a strong sense of responsibility towards those around him.
However, the actor stressed that Abubakar is not perfect. His good intentions sometimes make him carry burdens that do not necessarily belong to him.
Dar-e-Nijaat Continues to Win Attention
Written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Saqib Khan, Dar-e-Nijaat stars Sheheryar Munawar and Dur-e-Fishan Saleem, alongside Nameer Nawaz Khan and other prominent actors.

The full interview is scheduled to become available on BBC Sounds next Monday. Meanwhile, viewers can revisit earlier episodes to spot the subtle hints the actor says he deliberately included.
